Winter Home Blessings Vinegar & Cleaning Spray

I love creating blends of vinegar to use as a base for all-purpose cleaning sprays.

It allows me to put different intentions behind each out depending on the need and time of year. And now that we have eventually entered the time of winter, it's reached time I create my winter solstice home blessings vinegar to allow it the time it needs to steep before the new year.

This particular vinegar focuses on purifying and cleaning our homes while ensuring we start with plenty of positive vibes and blessings to start the new year.

Ingredients and Their Magickal Properties

Oranges

Oranges are my go-to fruit in home blessings and happiness spells. Not only do I constantly have peels around from my obsession with eating this yummy citrus, but its magical properties also make it the ideal fruit for home blessings.

For this herbal vinegar, we focus on it blessing our home with happiness, love, prosperity, and a bit of luck. It also provides a wonderful smell to the vinegar.

Powers: happiness, love, prosperity, luck

Rosemary

The plant is antibacterial and antimicrobial regardless of rosemary’s many magickal associations. Two excellent things to have when it comes to creating a cleaning spray.

But of course, rosemary also has a combination of magical qualities that are excellent for our homes to embody: protection, healing, purification, sleep, and love.

Powers: protection, healing, purification, sleep, and love

Cinnamon

Commonly found in our spice cabinet, cinnamon can provide us with warmth and stability. Something every home should be blessed with. The right intention and activation also provide this healing, love, and protection recipe.

Powers: protection, healing, love, stability, luck.

Recipe

Herbal Vinegar

Before making your own cleaner, you must make the herbal vinegar base. The beauty of the herbal vinegar base is it doesn’t have to be used as an all-purpose cleaner. It can be used for other forms of cleaning, cooking, etc.

Ingredients

  • 1 - 1 ½ Orange Peel

  • 1 cup dried rosemary

  • 2-3 Cinnamon sticks

  • Distilled White Vinegar

Directions

*Remember to focus on the intention of the ingredient while working with it. (I.E., when adding the ginger, focus on the intention of the ideas of courage and balance. Not just the idea, but how do they make you feel? How do having these things in your life manifest?)

  1. Add orange peel, rosemary, and cinnamon to a mason jar

  2. Pour distilled white vinegar until the jar is full and the herbs are completely covered

  3. Screw on a tight lid and let steep for at least 2 weeks

  4. Check daily, shake with home blessing intention, and add more vinegar to ensure herbs are completely covered.

All Purpose Cleaner

Ingredients

  • 1 cup herbal vinegar

  • 1 cup hot water

  • 2 tsp baking soda (optional)

  • 1 tbsp castile soap (optional)

Directions

*I mention optional on the baking soda and castile soap because you can make this cleaner with just hot water and herbal vinegar. Adding the baking soda and castile gives it some more cleaning power but either way, it is effective.

  • Combine ingredients in a large jar (vinegar and baking soda will react, so ensure the jar is large enough to consider the reaction), and mix thoroughly.

  • Wait for the reaction to subside and add to your favorite spray bottle.
